System of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via internet
The World Wide Web was invented in 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee

Website
A set of related web pages that contains information in the form of text, image, video, audio etc.

Web page Is created by using HTML (Hyper Text Mark-Up Language). The coding language used to create documents for use on the World Wide Web.   It Is  a representation of language used to create hyper text documents.
Web pages can be static and dynamic
Static pages contain static information – only simple text is included
Dynamic information is given in dynamic web page. It is highly colorful, containing animation, sound and interactive elements

A web page is transferred to a user’s computer through HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol)

According to the purpose , websites are classified in to  - personal, business, informative and search engines
Some others are photo sharing sites, community building websites, blogging websites
